What a flood risk consultant does

A flood risk consultant assesses how flooding could affect a development site — from rivers, the sea, surface water, groundwater and drainage — and sets out the measures needed to make a proposal safe and acceptable in planning terms. The result is usually a Flood Risk Assessment or drainage strategy that satisfies the Local Planning Authority, the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and, where relevant, the Environment Agency.

As an independent consultant, Flood Risk Environmental works across the full range of planning situations — householder extensions, single dwellings, residential schemes, commercial and industrial development, and change of use — with every report written to be approved at first submission.

Why choose an independent consultant

You deal with the consultant

Your assessment is prepared by a qualified consultant with 17+ years' experience — not handed to a junior. You speak to the person doing the work throughout.

Authority-side experience

Antony Riozzi BEng (Hons) has worked within a Lead Local Flood Authority, so reports anticipate exactly what reviewing officers look for.

Fixed fees, fast turnaround

A clear quote within 24 hours, FRAs from £295+VAT, and most assessments delivered in 3–5 working days.

Written to pass first time

Robust, evidence-led reports built on current EA data and national policy — designed to clear planning without rounds of revisions.

Services a flood risk consultant can provide

Flood Risk Assessments for all flood zones; Sequential and Exception Test support; Flood Consequence Assessments under TAN15 (Wales); SuDS and detailed drainage design; LLFA drainage objection responses; and ordinary watercourse consent. Whatever stage your application is at, there is a route to resolving the flood risk and drainage requirements.

Already had an objection? A flood risk consultant can review an LLFA or EA objection and prepare the technical response needed to overturn it — often the fastest way to get a stalled application moving again.
